March 2022: what events can tech, privacy, and security professionals look forward to?

From trends in AI and biometric data gathering, to ransomware attacks to new data privacy measures being enacted all over the world, there’s a lot of information to keep up with and it can be a bit overwhelming. So we’ve made note of a few events for those looking to keep informed on what’s happening. 

Here are some of the events you can look forward to this month!


3 March: Teach Privacy - Worldwide Privacy Law: New Developments

This webinar - hosted by Teach Privacy features professionals including Dell Legal Director, Lavonne Burke Hopkins, Head of Technology & Innovation Practice at Arthur Cox, Rob Corbet, and Vice President for Global Privacy at the Future of Privacy Forum, Gabriela Zanfir-Fortuna - looks to be an insightful discussion on the recent influx of data protection laws globally, as well as predictions for the future. It should also discuss how already-existing privacy laws are being enforced by regulators, as well as other pressing topics like cross-border transfers in a post-Schrems II world.

9 March: Sweeft Digital - Privacy-Enhancing Technologies (PETs)

For those particularly interested in Fintech, this is the event for you! Sweeft Digital will be hosting a webinar discussing all things privacy protections, tackling financial crime, and issues when adopting regulations of the financial sector.

10 March: CyNam 22.1: Ecosystems, Collaboration and Partnership

With their first headline event of 2022, they are kicking off this spring with a bang! In collaboration with IBM, they’ll be exploring the importance of an ecosystem approach when it comes to catalysing and commercialising innovation. This is not one to miss, as Pimloc’s CEO Simon Randall will be speaking on our latest work with IBM.

10 March: IAPP - Leverage Your Compliance Efforts: Preparing for Upcoming State Privacy Laws

CCPA, CPRA, CPA…are you confused about the US data privacy landscape? Fear not! IAPP intends to break down everything you need to know about the different data privacy laws across the United States, and help equip you with the tools you need to navigate that space and ensure you are compliant. This webinar will cover existing US data privacy laws, as well as what we can expect in the coming year; the progression of the 18 states that are currently moving through the legislative process, important ways in which these different laws differ, and much more.

15-17th March: The Home Office - Security & Policing

This event returns for its 40th anniversary to discuss all things international and domestic security, policing, and technology. Talks cover a vast range of topics: from counter-terrorism efforts, police use of technology to tackle crime, ransomware attacks, UK border challenges, and much more. They encourage attendees from employees of relevant industries including the police, UK or overseas law enforcement, government agencies, military, other security, and military professionals.

23 March: Data Protection World Forum and The DPO Centre -  UK Data Protection Index Panel

This quarterly event gives some insight from Data Protection Officers, giving an understanding of the changing data protection landscape in the UK, as well as the new challenges DPOs can expect to face.

23-25 March: Privacy & Security Academy - Privacy & Security Forum 

Hosted by prominent academics Daniel Solove and Paul Schwartz, the Spring Privacy & Security Forum has a long list of privacy and security professionals. The forum welcomes different experts from NGOs, think tanks, as well as policymakers, academics, and other privacy and security professionals to offer insight on a range of different topics. All the new and interesting things you need to know about the world of data privacy and security law will be discussed across these three days.

24 March: DIGIT - Data Protection Summit 2022 

Hosted in Edinburgh, the Data Protection Summit is another great place to get all the insight you need on current trends relating to data protection, tips for compliance and best practice, and future challenges in the field of data privacy. This event looks to be a comprehensive analysis on topics including cross-border data flows post-Schrems II, anonymisation, encryption, AI, and data breach security (plus much more). This doesn’t look like one to miss.
